Footnote 1 -- (Genesis Chapter 1:1) The Hebrew word rendered "God" is "Elohim." After "God," the Hebrew has the two letters "Aleph Tav" (the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet) as a grammatical marker.

Footnote 2 -- (Genesis Chapter 2:4) "Yahweh" is God's proper Name, sometimes rendered "LORD" (all caps) in other translations.

Footnote 3 -- (Genesis Chapter 5:2) "Adam" and "Man" are spelled with the exact same consonants in Hebrew, so this can be correctly translated either way.

Footnote 4 -- (Genesis Chapter 12:7) or, offspring

Footnote 5 -- (Genesis Chapter 15:2) The word translated "Lord" is "Adonai."

Footnote 6 -- (Genesis Chapter 16:14) Beer Lahai Roi means "well of the one who lives and sees me."

Footnote 7 -- (Genesis Chapter 17:19) Isaac means "he laughs."

Footnote 8 -- (Genesis Chapter 19:22) Zoar means "little."

Footnote 9 -- (Genesis Chapter 21:3) Isaac means "He laughs."
